Wednesday Walk Down Memory Lane

Lynnette Kraft hosts this trip down memory lane and I've missed participating the last several weeks due to Ryan's accident and things just getting too crazy around here to do much posting. But I got up this morning with the intentions of going for groceries and it's absolutely downPOURING so I've decided that going down memory lane with Lynnette is a far cry more fun than loading groceries in a monsoon!

Today I am thinking of a time when my family honored my parents 50th Anniversary. Mom and Dad said ahead of time that they would rather have a family get-together than a party or dinner - mostly because we are all scattered out and seldom all get together.

So I spent days and nights on Google, exploring all of the places that would sleep 12 people, that were in interesting area's and were a fair distance for all of us to drive. I ended up with Brown County, IN. I think the town was Nashville.

We kids payed for everything and did all of the meal planning, giving our parents only the dates to be available but nothing else.

It was a blast and everyone enjoyed it immensely, especially my parents. The pictures will show it best:

A picture of my parents wedding picture!

Married 50 years!

We took turns with meals. Each family took care of a supper. We all contributed to breakfast and lunch.

There was this 60 ft. swing in the yard and that was a super hit. The young and the old!

Shopping in Nashville. My sister-in-law checking out a swing chair. (I want one of these!)

There was a pool table in the cabin and I saw a whole new competitive side come out of my dad! That was a fun and good thing for everyone to enjoy together when in the cabin.

Hot tub fun!

Everyone went hiking and horseback trail-riding, but I stayed back at the cabin with mom mom. I did her hair and makeup - just for fun! - and we watched a movie. When the rest got back they were telling us about when they got on the horses back's, my husband's horse took off with him on it and he didn't know how to control it or stop it. They still laugh about that.

My dad enjoying some quiet time with the Lord.

My parents with the grandchildren that could be there. This was about 3 years ago and Ryan is now at least a foot taller than in this picture!

  1. Wow! What a special idea for a special Anniversary! The pictures do show how much fun it was.

I loved the picture of your dad having quiet time with the Lord. The surroundings looked so peaceful. What better place to... "Be still and know that I am God!"???

And your husband's horseback adventure brought a smile to my face. This would be my luck if I got on a horse I'm sure!

Thanks for your post. I sure hope Mr Linky comes bac. ((smile))

Come on over to my blog and read my Weds. Walk.

We did that for my parents 40th anniversary and I'm so glad we did because my Mom passed away a few years later. Family time is so wonderful!

  9. Looks like a wonderful place for a family reunion! I think everyone had a blast! My parents just celebrated their 50th too! Well they really didn't get to celebrate it yet, due to my mom being in the hospital having back surgery on her anniversary date!

I see a BJU t shirt. My dad is an alumni there.
