How do I say this?

I

am

going

to

scream!

I called BCBS to find out why they aren't paying any of Ryan's surgery bills and found out our insurance deductible has doubled. Individual is now $5K and family is now $10K.

What. do. they. expect. us. to. do?

With Premiums of $133/wk, paying $300-400/mo. in prescription co-pays, and paying on medical bills until we meet $10,000. Monthly oxygen bills, infusion bills in the thousands for IV's a few times a year...

Is anyone else dealing with insurance like this?

This. is. wrong!

Wednesday Walk Down Memory Lane

Lynnette Kraft hosts this trip down memory lane and I've missed participating the last several weeks due to Ryan's accident and things just getting too crazy around here to do much posting. But I got up this morning with the intentions of going for groceries and it's absolutely downPOURING so I've decided that going down memory lane with Lynnette is a far cry more fun than loading groceries in a monsoon!

Today I am thinking of a time when my family honored my parents 50th Anniversary. Mom and Dad said ahead of time that they would rather have a family get-together than a party or dinner - mostly because we are all scattered out and seldom all get together.

So I spent days and nights on Google, exploring all of the places that would sleep 12 people, that were in interesting area's and were a fair distance for all of us to drive. I ended up with Brown County, IN. I think the town was Nashville.

We kids payed for everything and did all of the meal planning, giving our parents only the dates to be available but nothing else.

It was a blast and everyone enjoyed it immensely, especially my parents. The pictures will show it best:

A picture of my parents wedding picture!

Married 50 years!

We took turns with meals. Each family took care of a supper. We all contributed to breakfast and lunch.

There was this 60 ft. swing in the yard and that was a super hit. The young and the old!

Shopping in Nashville. My sister-in-law checking out a swing chair. (I want one of these!)

There was a pool table in the cabin and I saw a whole new competitive side come out of my dad! That was a fun and good thing for everyone to enjoy together when in the cabin.

Hot tub fun!

Everyone went hiking and horseback trail-riding, but I stayed back at the cabin with mom mom. I did her hair and makeup - just for fun! - and we watched a movie. When the rest got back they were telling us about when they got on the horses back's, my husband's horse took off with him on it and he didn't know how to control it or stop it. They still laugh about that.

My dad enjoying some quiet time with the Lord.

My parents with the grandchildren that could be there. This was about 3 years ago and Ryan is now at least a foot taller than in this picture!

Remember our Fallen Heroes

This Memorial Weekend I want to remember all of our men and women serving our country.

I especially want to remember a nephew of some friends of mine. Jesse was killed in Iraq on January 26, 2005. This YouTube video was dedicated to Jesse and three others killed with him. Jesse's uncle has since created something wonderful in The Jake, in order to save others from being killed.

Happy Birthday to me...

Tomorrow is my birthday. What do I want? Unlimited time on the computer so that I can catch up on blogs!!! (I'm so behind!)

And no cleaning of the house, but I doubt that will happen!

Look at how my dogs were sleeping last night, by the way.

Blogger problem - are you having this?

Last night and this morning I've been trying to visit people's blogs and I get some "aborted" message and kicked off the page. Is anyone else having this problem? Obviously I can access my own blog, but hardly anyone else's and it's frustrating!

I'm trying to get to you guys!!!

She's gone (sniff!)

My friend flew back home today. We had a great time while she was here. She arrived on Saturday. We visited til bedtime, then Sunday went to church. She really liked our church. It was pouring on Sunday and she was really tired from Saturday so we ended up just staying in the rest of the day.

We played some games with Ryan, visited, ate, visited, ate...

Monday I took her out touring. I showed her Chickamauga, but none of the shops were open. We went through the Battlefield then to Fort Oglethorpe. Did some shopping at a store she'd never been to and loved...then went to Chattanooga.

Tuesday we took Ryan up to my parents and visited for a little, then went to Chattanooga for a ride in the Duck. That's an amphibious vehicle from World War II that they show you some of Chattanooga and then splash into the river and have a tour from down the river. That was a lot of fun and very relaxing.

(Where we made our big splash into the water.)

We also had a picnic at Riverpark

and went to the Chattanooga Choo Choo and Gardens

Other than that, we just hung out

Jean really liked our hammock!

Now I'm trying to catch up on housework and laundry and rest. I'm exhausted!

Cast....

Just wanted to let you know I'll probably be missing for a few days. I've been very busy today with Ryan's dr. appt. and working on cleaning and food preparation for my company that comes tomorrow.

Then I found out that my husband gets home late tonight and has to leave early Sunday, to be gone another week. That means I have to get all of his laundry done, tomorrow, and ready to go again plus get 4 hot meals ready for him...and be ready to pick up my houseguest at 2:30PM!

Ryan's appt. went well this morning. They took Xrays, removed stitches but left the pin in. Then they put a cast on and we go back in another 2 weeks.

Cookies and Company

I'm sorry that I haven't been writing much lately. Since Ryan can't do a whole lot else, I've been letting him have a lot of extra time on the computer. Then when I've finally gotten on, I've been trying to catch up in reading your blogs and Facebook.

I've also been preparing and anticipating a friend coming to visit this Saturday. She's flying down from PA and I haven't seen her for over 2 years. We'll have a little over 3 days together and I can't wait!

This was a surprise that we received today:

Ryan's Gram Karen had it sent to him. We never knew they made such things! He was very excited - I mean it's FOOD! SWEETS!

His youth leader called a little bit ago and said all of the kids were really missing him and they wanted to put together a basket of some favorite things for him. So he has another surprise coming soon.

Tomorrow morning we have to be at the surgeon's office at 8:15 to have his foot checked out and possibly have the pins removed. He has another 2-4 weeks before he can put any weight on his foot, but we could probably start going out more after tomorrow since he won't need to keep it elevated as much.

I have a neuroma on my left foot that is really painful and is hurting to walk right now.

My mom was down this way getting her hair done today, so she came over afterwards, bringing lunch from Zaxby's for all of us. While we visited, I baked cookies (I started them before the delivery of the others!) and she washed some of my windows and did some of my dusting and dishes! I guess she feels guilty if she sits down and relaxes.

Okay, your comments will be welcome now! Since I'm inside so much I get rather bored and lonely!

Don't Forget!!!

Tonight is the BIG NIGHT!!!

The BIGGEST LOSER COUPLE FINALE!!!

NBC 8-11PM

GO MIKE!!

Think I'm excited????

Kayleigh is with Jesus

My heart is so sad this morning. I knew it was coming, but it was still so hard to read Adam's post early this morning.

I'm so glad that they had the past 11 months with her. In this first year of her life, she has known the perfect love of two families: her earthly family and her heavenly family.

Please pray for the Freeman family during this difficult time. Also, they are supposed to appear on The Doctor's tomorrow, Wed., 5/13.

More pictures!

Here are my mom, dad and husband eating on Mother's Day. Nice backdrop, huh?

Ryan had to eat off to the side because he needed his leg up and there wasn't room on the table.

This is what he does at home!

He's much more flexible than I am - my body just wouldn't do this! well, maybe it would, but I guarantee I wouldn't be able to stand up afterward!

Mother's Day scene

We went to my parents for Mother's Day. The men grilled steaks and did the cleanup for us.

I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the flower garden at my parents. We spent our time on their sun porch and immediately behind the porch is a waterfall that my dad made and a beautiful garden. The pool at the bottom of the falls is about 1 foot from the sunroom, so with the window cracked open a little you have the very relaxing sound of the waterfall.

Fantastic GiveAways!

Don't forget to be visiting 5 Minutes for Mom Mothers Day GiveAways. (I have a button along the side of my blog.) They have FANTASTIC gifts they are giving away, but you need to hurry on over because Mother's Day is this Sunday and Saturday the 9th is the last you can enter to win anything.

Mothers Day 2009

Thursday, May 7

I got to see someone today!

After being cooped up in the house since Ryan's surgery on Saturday, it was great to have my parents come down today. Different faces!!!!

My mom and I went out and ran errands that I needed to do.

My dad stayed with Ryan and mowed the yard and did weed trimming.

Does it look like he overdid it?

After lunch we were watching a movie with Ryan, but Ryan was spread out on the loveseat with his foot up, so my Dad sat in the empty wheelchair that a kind lady at church lent to us.

Ryan is getting awful bored and keeps saying he wants to skateboard and he wants to do karate and run around. He's got a ways to go, so he'll have to learn more patience. He has to keep his foot elevated until a week from tomorrow.

~~~~~~
I won something! I won a picture from a great photographer: Carrie at Living and Loving Every Minute of It. She was going to have 1 winner, then selected two more. I get to pick out a photo and she'll send me a digital file with it. I'll be over soon, Carrie! Thank you!
Wednesday, May 6
Lush, but not that kind of lush!
It is absolutely pouring today. We have had so many rainy days, lately, that everything is so beautifully green & lush. This was taken from my deck this morning.
Looks like Ireland, it's so green! Our lawn hasn't been mowed for over a week, since before Ryan's accident and it will be another week before the forecasted rain ends and my husband is home to mow. It'll be 3 feet tall, by then!
What a great day to stay inside! I'll bully Ryan into doing a few classes of school, then we could play some games...I may even bake some brownies or something special. Although that would be temptation and torture for me.
Which reminds me about the Biggest Loser last night...anyone watch it? I couldn't believe that Ron pushed himself and finished the marathon, with all of the pain he was in! 13 hours!!! That was an emotional finish!
I want Mike to win the Grand Finalle NEXT WEEK!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I actually feel rested this morning. Ryan slept all through the night with no night terrors and no need for pain meds and I got a good sleep, too!

(Hey, if anyone wants to send him a card, email me and I'll give you my mailing address.)

Shot down again

Today I continued my search for a new PCP. The other week I called several places and none of them accepted our insurance. (A lousy BC/BS Network plan) I had to take a break and drop it for a while.

This afternoon I called 8 more places and none of the 8 accept our insurance! Talk about discouraging! I think I'm going to stay with the group I've been with. My dr. left the group and the group makes oodles of mistakes and I've never been pleased with them, but I'm running out of options for an Internist.

I still need to find a GYN, too. What fun I'm having!

I'm being facetious, can you tell?

Monday, May 4

thumbs foot's up!

Not much going on in my house to write about...so why am I so busy and tired?

Doesn't make sense!

Ryan's doing well in the pain department. His pain meds are getting further apart and a lower dose. We are keeping the moving around to the minimum and his foot is supposed to stay above his heart until his post-op visit May 15.

I started getting a sore throat Saturday night and have been feeling quite run-down. I started coughing much more, a more productive cough, and my breathing has felt much more labored and I tire with the slightest moving around. I requested prayer right away Sunday morning and have been feeling a little better, but still not norm.

Because of my CF, if I get sick it's hard for me to do the basic things, let alone take care of and wait on a disabled son, so please pray that I can get some bigger chunks of rest and feel better!

Leave me alone! Let me sleep!

Ryan is sleeping very comfortably in his bed. We had a hard time getting him to wake up enough to get dressed and come home. He kept saying "Leave me alone! Let me sleep!"

The morning went quite well. He's so funny. You assume kids know things. He didn't know he'd have to wear a hospital gown and didn't want to wear one because he was afraid someone would see his butt! I told him sometimes they give you another gown that opens in the front. Well, he freaks: "WHAT?!?!?! Open in the FRONT?!?! How is THAT better?!?!" We just died laughing. Then I explained that the "open in front" one was OVER the one that's open in the back, like a robe.

Everything went well, though. The large one was in pieces so they put pins and screws in that one. They ended up doing the one next to it, too, and put a wire through that one.

Thank you so much for your prayers. They mean so much and you can really see them at work.

Off to surgery!

We leave in 15 min. for the hospital for Ryan's surgery.

He's trying to be brave...

Thanks for your prayers!

(The local TV channel called last evening and wanted to do a "feel good" story on Ryan and his cousin carrying him out. I couldn't believe they heard about it. Anyway, they wanted the boys together and my nephew left for SC yesterday. The guy was very disappointed.)
