Long Time No Hear!

I just finished baking and decorating some Valentine cookies. Ryan loves cut-out cookies. It's so hard to have sweet things in the house for him and not eat them myself! But I have GOT to get losing some weight because it's making me so miserable.

I was discharged by Home Health yesterday and my Port was de-accessed. 3 weeks of IV abx and I am feeling better and have more energy. When I do home IV's I'm not allowed to leave the house, under Medicare rules, so today it was wonderful to go out and run errands and get my hair done. Yeah!

I had some sad news today that hasn't quite sunk in. My father had prostrate surgery last week and today was his post-op appointment. The dr. told my parents that they found cancer when they did the surgery. It's a "level 7" - I forget the type (We're going up tomorrow and he's going to write the name down and then educate me.) My dad was a radiation therapist in Oncology so he is familar with all of the kinds of cancer. Mom said she didn't understand a lot of what the dr. was saying, but Dad was nodding his head and understood it.

As I said, tomorrow we are going up in the afternoon. Jim is going to take their car to get the oil changed and we'll do some things around the house that they need help with, plus are getting pizza for supper.

My mom is starting therapy 3x a week for a pinched nerve in her neck, so they have lots going on and are going to be needing more help. Wish they lived closer. They are about 50 min. away, but 10-15 min. would be so much easier when you're making a lot of trips and working around school and a teens' job.

Speaking of which, yesterday one of the chimps (Goliath) bit a zoo keeper. The "retired" chimp (Hank) who is kept separate saw what Goliath did and got mad. He hit the glass, broke it and went through it. Then he started beating up on Goliath. Ryan said it took 6 people to separate them because they are so strong.

Here's a really cute video to watch. It's a National Geographic and it's about a friendship between an orangutan and a hound dog. Adorable! I can't insert this one, so just click here. It's really worth it!

****Last of all, after all the whooplah of going private, I am changing it back to a public one. (I've deleted the more private posts.) The reason that has influenced this change is that people have commented that it doesn't show up on their Reader List anymore and they have a hard time remembering to check the blog. The reason I blog is to form friendships and not feel so alone when I'm home so much and if I feel like no one is out there...that's kind of defeating the purpose! Even tho my posts have been fewer in the past month, I miss all of your comments when I do post.****

Please pray for my dad

Please pray for my dad. He had prostrate surgery yesterday and they've kept him at the hospital longer because he became very disoriented. They thot it was due to low sodium and he was getting somewhat better today, then tonight took a turn for the worse. He doesn't know where he is or what year it is, he's trying to get out of bed to go to bed!

Last I heard my mom was waiting for the dr. to check on things and talk to her. She and my husband don't want me going in. I was in to visit earlier for just an hour, but since I'm on IV's and the hospital is such a germy place, they are limiting my going there. I'm feeling very frustrated about that. We moved here to be nearby for times like this and everyone is tip-toeing around my health now, but I want to be there.

It's very hard to see him like this. Just this Sunday he was here for dinner and a few hours when dropping off their dog...he was just as sharp as ever. (He is 72yrs)

Anyway, thanks for your prayers for my parents.

Quiet Life

Someone asked if they were missing something because they hadn't gotten any notices to my blog lately. No, only so much you can write when you're sitting in a recliner most of the time!

I'm going to be on IV's a 3rd week and that should take care of my infection. I'm still really dragging and want to sleep all of the time, which is unusual for me.

My dad had surgery yesterday, so I went to the hospital to hang out with my mom and keep her company. I never got to see my dad because it took him so long coming out of recovery that by the time he was in a room I had to leave to get Ryan to a dr. appt. I'm told he was in a lot of pain, so I'm sure he'd appreciate your prayers.

Yesterday was also my mom's 76th birthday. I felt badly for her that there was nothing special that was just about HER for her birthday, but it couldn't be helped and we'll celebrate on another day. I did make her her favorite cheesecake on Sunday. She brought ME a meal (lasagna), but I did a birthday dessert for HER.So, that's it.

Nothing exciting going on here.Nothing to take pictures of.

Well, it did snow here over the weekend and we got nearly 5 inches, but since I couldn't leave the house I didn't get any pictures even!

Thanks for checking on me and not giving up on me.
