IV treatments

I started IV treatments yesterday and am already having bad side effects. I'm trying to hang in there and endure it, tho, because there are only a couple of meds left to kill my bacteria. They all seem to have side effects. My muscles are hurting all over my body, making it hard to move, so I told Ryan he's going to have to take care of me and the house tomorrow!

My Colistin hasn't arrived yet, so I'm just doing the Merem right now. I hope the Colistin doesn't have bad side effects, too!

An amazing faith and attitude

I've been following Adrienne's blog, Grace for the Journey. (She also has a very nice blog with lots of pictures of nature and animals that you would enjoy, Adrienne in Ohio.

Adrienne has three children and her husband, Jeff, has been diagnosed with 3 forms of cancer since 2004. In December they were told this latest form is terminal.

In spite of all she has been going through, she has such amazing faith. She really lives it and her attitude is much to be admired. I was going to mention her favorite entry, but in revisiting her posts there are many favorites! Please visit her blog(s) for encouragement and to encourage Adrienne.

A Diehard Scooter-rider!

Last night Ryan wanted to go outside and ride his scooter. My husband told him it was raining out. Ryan really wanted to go outside, so he borrowed my husband's rain gear and dawned his swimming goggles and went out. We captured this when he came back in.

I'm so happy for these lighter moments!

Going Private

Some things just can't be talked about in public.

I'm definitely going private in a few days. I still have my list of people's requests to be included in my private blog. For any new people who haven't requested and want to, please email me your email address by Saturday, 2PM EST.

Coughing up a storm

This will just be a short update.  I’m tired.  I’ve been coughing so much lately that it’s hard to sleep.

Today I called the CF clinic to tell them the problem and ask if there is something that could be done for the coughing.  They want to do home IV’s again.  I told them that I can’t do them right now because of finances and needing to get some of the medical bills paid off first.

I cultured pseudomonas again in December.  There is only one oral abx. for pseudomonas and it’s Cipro.  When I was on Cipro last fall I had a bad reaction and could hardly move, but I told them I’d be willing to give it a try again since I can’t afford the IV’s right now.

Right now I’m waiting for their call back.

I’ll be a monkey’s…friend

I’ve been keeping busy enough lately, but thought I ought to update my blog.

I’ve been keeping up with the treadmill, altho have missed a couple of days.  It’s hard to use it early in the morning because it’s across from Ryan’s bedroom and wakes him up.  But I’m getting it in as much as I can and feel good about that.  I still haven’t gotten back to the Total Gym and I need to do that soon.  Today my sinuses are hurting something terrible and I’ve decided to just kick back the rest of the day.

Ryan started his volunteer work at the zoo last Saturday.  He loves it!  He works 3 mornings during the week and a couple hours Saturday afternoon and is already wanting me to increase his hours, but I said we need to give it longer and see how he keeps up with school work.  So far he’s really trying to show that he can handle the extra responsibility.

It’s a perfect job for him.  He’s always been great with animals and he’s doing such a variety of things and just loves it.  Today he had to entertain the cotton top tamarin monkeys while the zoo keeper did something in their area.  He said they were crawling all over him (they are little things!)

(Aren’t they cute?)

and they were checking out his hair and ears and one was trying to get his wallet out of his pocket, the little pick-pocket!  He’s also been feeding and caring for chinchilla’s, rabbits, parrots, a small alligator and a ferret.  As he works more hours he moves on to other animals, unless a zoo keeper requests his help, like today.  He is full of stories and excitement when I pick him up.

The media was there today when I picked him up, so I think they’ll be featured on the news tonight.  Probably about keeping the animals warm in this weather.

Tomorrow I’m going to sleep in and I’m not leaving the house for 2 days!  It’s been so cold here for Georgia.  We had 3-4 days that didn’t get above freezing and that’s not usual for us!   They are calling for snow the next couple days, although not as cold temperatures, so I’m glad my errands and appointments are done for the week and I can just hole up inside!

Anyone watch Biggest Loser last night?  I was amazed they had to ride the bikes 26.2 miles for their first exercise/challenge!  I couldn’t do that!  I love that show.
