Please pray for Anthony

There is this really sweet kid I found earlier this year through cfhusband. His name is Anthony, he has Cystic Fibrosis and had a double lung transplant this year. He was doing very well for quite a while, but I read this evening that he was med-flighted back to TX (he lives in FL) with pneumonia.

He is just such a great kid. Anthony could really use your prayers. If you want to read more about him and drop him a note, go to Anthony's Caring Bridge Site.

Playing dress-up

Here is my temporary solution to the appearance of my O2 concentrator. You all had a lot of great idea's. I mostly had to stick with working with what I had on hand, and also it has to be something that can easily be removed when turned on because the thing vibrates so much. This table-runner someone gave me can easily be lifted off. I think when my husband is home I may have him dig through the Christmas stuff that he just packed away and see if he can find a thick velvet ribbon. I'd like to tie one around it, like it's a GIFT. Hopefully it wouldn't slide off when it vibrates, if I taped the under-part.

Help or Make Worse, that is the question

Below I have two pictures of my monstrosity of an oxygen concentrator. I have a 50ft. hose that runs from it so I can move about the house using it. That little cup in the front of it holds Distilled Water, which moisturizes the o2 so I'm not getting dried out. I am extremely prone to bleeding, so I appreciate this feature.

However, on the CF boards they were talking about distilled water having burkholderia cepacia (aka, b. cepacia) in it. I have pseudonomis, which you can't get rid of and is bad enough, but getting b. cepacia is much worse.

Now I'm getting a little paranoid. I'm breathing this distilled water into my body. It's supposed to be helping me breathe better, but I'm wondering if I'm setting myself up for worse bacteria where I just can't fight it. I wonder if anyone BOILS distilled water. Wouldn't that kill anything in it?

Is this machine more a blessing or an enemy?

Speaking of health issues, last night I developed a sharp pain in my chest and it's still there. I don't know if it's a pulled muscle, something from going out in the cold yesterday, or something more serious. In the CF world you hear of so many scarey stories of embolisms, pleurisy, etc. If it keeps up I will need to see a dr. but the one I trust the most is 2 hrs. away.

Wordless Wednesday - Christmas decoration?

Since my oxygen concentrator sits around the house "large as life", I am thinking that I need to find a way to decorate it. What do you think?

The real reason

I've just finished listening to something like the 12th book in the Left Behind Series. It is amazing how my perspective changes when I listen to those books. In this last one Jesus comes back and Satan is bound.

We get so caught up in our lives here on earth. The things that we see as important, the things we spend our time doing, the things we get upset over...sometimes it seems very silly.

Just in case you get caught up in all of the Christmas stress and forget what Christmas is about...

Mary's Dream

I had a dream, Joseph, I don't understand it, not really, but I think it was about a birthday celebration for our Son. I think that was what it was all about. The people had been preparing for it for about six weeks. They had decorated the house and bought new clothes. They'd gone shopping many times and bought elaborate gifts. It was peculiar, though, because the presents weren't for our Son.

They wrapped them in beautiful paper and tied them with lovely bows and stacked them under a tree. Yes, a tree, Joseph, right in their house. They'd decorated the tree also. The branches were full of glowing balls and sparkling ornaments. There was a figure on the top of the tree. It looked like an angel might look. Oh, it was beautiful.

Everyone was laughing and happy. They were all excited about the gifts. They gave the gifts to each other, Joseph, not to our Son. I don't think they even knew Him. They never mentioned His name. Doesn't it seem odd for people to go to all that trouble to celebrate someone's birthday if they don't know Him?

I had the strangest feeling that if our Son had gone to this celebration He would have been intruding. Everything was so beautiful, Joseph, and everyone so full of cheer, but it made me want to cry. How sad for Jesus -not to be wanted at His own birthday celebration.
I'm glad it was only a dream. How terrible, Joseph, if it had been real.

Love this guy!

I'm talking about Mark Lowry. Are many of you familiar with him? When we lived in PA we had a Christian Library nearby and we would rent his video's and cassettes all of the time.

He's a great comedian and a great singer. Here's one of my favorite Christmas songs, which Mark wrote and is singing.

Here's a sample of one of my favorite of his comedy acts. It's an older one, as you can tell by his hair style, but you will really get a laugh from him!

Not Me! Monday - Husbands on eBay?

It's that time of the week again. MckMama has this idea of our getting some therapy done by making some Not Me! confessions.

I only have a few, which we gathered over the past two weeks, since I didn't do this last week.

1. I did not get the Christmas tree all decorated and then discover I still had 5 stands of lights I should have put on it still- you know, for lot of lights??

2. I did not decorate the Christmas tree and leave a whole "naked" backside to the tree. No one stands back in that corner to look, so why put them there? So if anyone checks out my tree, only stand where you are supposed to, will you?

3. I did not check eBay to see if husbands were listed and selling. Everyone's blogs I read have these "ideal husbands". I don't, but I will give you a "deal" on my husband if you want him. Enough said.

4. I have a migraine (again) Saturday night and had to get up at 3AM to take my husband to work, then had an asthma attack and couldn't get back to sleep. Once I finally got to sleep, my husband called to complain about his job. So, what I did not do is stay in bed and sleep instead of going to Sunday School and Church. When I got up my son was so disappointed at not getting to Youth Group, I did not offer to drive him there in my pajama's and drop him off!!! I wouldn't do that! Not me!
