There are many reasons why I've been absent, but I won't go into them all.
I don't have a lot of time to invest in blogging and don't know how frequently I will post. Some of it will depend on how many people read it and comment. When I started my blog it was to meet people and have friendships, since I'm so shut in all of the time. But the last few times I blogged I got the idea many weren't reading. It could be because of the infrequency of my posts.
Anyway, most of my stories will probably be about Ryan's work. He is still doing volunteer work at the zoo. He works 2 & 1/2 days and sometimes 3 full days. He absolutely loves it. No matter what kind of work he does, he loves it.
Red Rock remains his favorite animal.

Red Rock doesn't like anyone other than Ryan. Ryan gives him his shots and eyedrops. One day the Keeper was spraying him with water to cool him and he got angry and started thrashing around so much they thot he'd break the fence. So they sent for Ryan. Ryan just said "Red Rock, come here! Let's play!" and he came running to Ryan and stopped, all calm! He'll nudge Ryan's arm so that it's around his neck. Ryan plays ball with him! He'd kind of like Ryan's dog! But he's a wild animal and will bite or kick or butt anyone else.
Ryan has moved up in the Volunteer level and now carries a radio and can be left in charge on his own. He works with the mountain lions, red panda's, jaguars, in addition to all that he had done before. He can play with the one cougar, Maya, because her former owner mistreated her and she is crippled.

As for my health, I am doing reasonably well. Slowing down some since it's been a few months since my IV's and due to our weather. It's been in the mid to upper 90's and humid for the past few weeks and that's very hard for breathing. I get quite tired easily, for whatever reason.
I returned for my 3 mo. checkup at the CF Clinic this week and my lung function was 39%, down from 44%, but not too bad a drop.
Well, I hope there are a few people left who will read this and leave a comment so that I know it was read.
I'll try to post at least once a week.
I'm glad to hear from you. I was thinking of you just last week and came here to see if I had missed something. I'm glad you're ok.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Ryan is doing well too. Nice pictures!
yea! I am so glad you are back blogging!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to see Ryan's connection with the animals and it makes me smile to see that he has a job that he loves so much!!
I'm happy to read your blog too and Red Rock is my kind of guy :D
ReplyDeleteI will read, I've missed your blogging! Take care...
ReplyDeleteI've missed you! and so excited to see a post by you. :) sounds like Ryan is doing awesome.
ReplyDeleteand and blogging in general has gotten tough. I'm down to very few commenters as well. I had a hard time at first...but I remembered that my main reason for clogging was for me....so I keep on keeping on. :)
Love time no hear from.
ReplyDeleteRyan's job sounds wonderful. My sister has a gift for working with animals... sounds like Ryan does, too.
Hugs to you.
Long time.... that is what I meant. Oops!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour son must have a wonderful connection to animals. It sounds like such a fun and rewarding job to have.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog. It's good to see another "old" person online. It always amazes me to hear about late diagnosed CF'ers--I guess since I can't imagine it for myself. I was diagnosed when I was about 5 months old and outlived my 5 year old life expectancy and just passed my 45 year milestone. Woot woot! We more mature people rock!
