Is it my turn yet?
I have so many blogs I love to follow that by the time I get through them, I have no time to update my own blog.
I can tell you are crying tears now for me.
Jackie is doing something called Hot for the Holidays that I'm considering doing. I want to lose weight and occasionally try. I think this might make me much more accountable - putting an actual picture of me on the world wide web (not that the whole world reads this blog like they do Nate's !) and telling of my progress, or shaming myself by my lack of it. I challenged Jackie that if she posts a "before picture", then I will join HFTH and post my picture. Posting my picture will be far more shameful and embarrassing, believe you me. I have 40-45 lbs. to lose. And my weight has been a number so secret that only my doctors, scales and me know it until now. So, Jackie, watcha gonna do?
Whoops, I'm supposed to be letting my husband on here for his job hunting and I'm supposed to be using the Total Gym. Screwing up already today...

My apologies, Wendi!

I love looking at great photography and found this new site through another blog. The pictures are so amazing!
I have some other new favorite blogs I'm adding to my list. Check them out!

Prayer for my friends

Continue to pray for Tricia of CF Husband, also, as she's still in the hospital.
And, pray for me too. I think that I am needing to be in the hospital for a "tune up" (CF phrase for IV antibiotics and fixing up), but my husband is totally out of work at this point and hasn't been able to find anything else, so it's a bad time to be racking up bills, but a bad time to be sick.

Not Me! Monday
This is my first attempt at Not Me! Monday.

I did not spend at least an hour trying to decide whether to do this or not.
I did not bake two Apple Chip Cakes this week since I screwed the first one up.

2nd attempt

I did not eat dessert for my sole meal twice this past week and I definitely did not gain any weight because of my poor eating habits and self-discipline.
When my son asked me to watch television with him the other night, I did not turn him down and read instead!
When I finally had some time alone at home the other day, I did not purposely walk across the house in just my underwear, just to not prove that I could because I was alone.
When I got dressed for church last week my dress was not too tight and when I dressed for church this morning my suit was definitely not too tight and uncomfortable. This would definitely not mean that I have no comfortable clothes to wear to church anymore!
When we had my parents over for this afternoon my husband did not demonstrate how loudly I snored last night and I was not impossible to wake up. Not me- I would never do such an unladylike thing and I absolutely did not snore like that!
The Great Pumpkin Slaughter
So I bought another kind of pumpkin that a saleslady recommended. Don't ask me what kind it is. I only know that it was the hardest thing I've ever tried to cut open.
I started with this knife I got at Sam's last year that will cut ANYTHING. Wood, tomatoes, meat...anything. But it wouldn't even penetrate the pumpkin.
Knife #2 was much larger, but that wouldn't work, either.
Knife #3 was smaller but was a filet knife with an extremely sharp point. Surely this one I could wield like a folcrum, stabbing it with the tip. Nope.
Move on to knife #4. A steak knife. I figure if the other blades didn't work, maybe if I sawed the pumpkin with a sereated (is that spelled right?) edge it would work.
For pete's sake! By this time I think that someone sold me a rock painted like a pumpkin. I was at least a half hour into this act of cutting open the pumpkin and was no further along and getting terribly worn out.
I pulled out Knife #5. This one is like a meat cleaver or a small machete. I positioned the pumpkin on the counter so that it was still, raised the cleaver up over my head with both hands on the handle and brought it down as hard as I could.
I got the knife in! But only about 1 inch and I couldn't get the knife back out. So I raised the knife AND the pumpkin up about 2 feet off the counter and started banging it down onto the counter as hard as I could. I was half afraid I would crack the counter. (No, I don't have granite countertops!) The pumpkin finally split open.
That pumpkin pie had better be good. (I know a can of pumpkin would be a lot easier, but once you've had homemade for years, it's hard to switch back!)
Sorry that I don't have any pictures! If I'd known this would have been such an ordeal I would have had my husband or son video tape the pumpkin masacre for you to watch.
