This is a GODIVA chocolate story - a true one!

I once dated a guy who worked for Godiva chocolates. He would bring me gifts of chocolate, knowing how I loved the stuff. I actually prefer Hersheys over the very expensive Godiva, but hey, I take what I can get. (And don't get me going on Toblerone! mmmm! Sorry, this is about GODIVA.) After we stopped dating, we remained good friends and when I met and married my husband, this guy became friends with him, also.
One day he called me up and asked if I would like 5 lbs. of Godiva testing chocolate. He said that they can only melt down their test chocolate over a certain period of time and then they are required to pitch it. He said it was perfectly good chocolate, so he wondered if we'd like it.
Far be it from me to turn down chocolate! We lived in an upstairs apartment at that time and when Mark came, I heard this **clunk**, **clunk**, **clunk** coming up the stairs. What on earth?? I opened the door to my friend resting a 5 GALLON drum on the landing. He'd said 5 gallon, when I heard 5 pound.
Yes, my friends, a five gallon drum of liquid Godiva chocolate! Can you spell h-e-a-v-e-n? It was a chocolate lover's dream! He told me it would harden pretty quickly as it cooled, so I'd need to dish any out while it was liquid. I brought out every container that I had and started "bailing." I ran out of containers and had to find more. It was hardening up, so my husband and I put hot water in the bathtub and set the plastic drum in the water to keep it soft for dishing. I had chocolate up my arms, on my face, my clothes. It was a chocolate lover's dream. I was taking a bath in chocolate!
What did I do with it all? I gave LOTS of it away at the office where I worked. And I made candy. Rice-krispie candy, peanut butter cups, chocolate lollipops, chocolate covered marshmallows, chocolate covered pretzels...
So now you know my chocolate story.
Chocolate, anyone?

I laughed through this one. So funny! My hubby likes the Toblerone bars. I might have to get him one for his stocking. It'll remind him of his trip to Europe after college.

ReplyDeleteAlso, yhanks for visiting my blog! I wanted to answer your question about "noise" in photographs. It has to do with the ISO setting on the camera which has to be raised as the light gets dimmer and dimmer. This introduces graininess to the photo...known in the photography world as noise! Hope that helps!
Great story!
