Rain, Rain, Go Away...

We have been having major rain in Northern Georgia. The weather station said we had a foot of it since it started up yesterday.

This morning Ryan and I got in the car and drove around - as far as we could go, anyhow - and checked out the damage. There was a rescue going on with the rescue boats, but with cars behind me I couldn't stop to take pictures. I did find places to pull over and take these pictures, though.

They declared a state of emergency in our county just before midnight last night and said no one was allowed out on the roads. It was pretty bad.

This is in front of our property yesterday afternoon. You can see the water pooling on the cul-de-sac.

The water was just RUSHING down the gulley between out house and the empty lot next to us. It was soooooo loud!

Here is a picture from the nearby town where I get groceries, altho this location is on a back road.

Yesterday I finally got to go to Sunday School and church. I was so excited to return! I went to the church library, first, which I have only just discovered. It's wonderful!!! So many great books and even many that I have never read! I checked out 4 and wanted to peruse the audio's but I was getting so hot I just wanted to get out of the room. When I was finishing up my husband found me and told me I needed to leave because the air-conditioning wasn't working. Apparently there was a problem with the nearby electric pole and there was no electricity or a/c in the sanctuary and no a/c in the S.S. room. I was so disappointed!!!! But I knew I couldn't sit there in that type of condition, so I came home and went back and picked them up later.

  1. That's a lot of water! Hope it stops and dries up soon.
Bummer about the air conditioning, but at least you made it to the library!

  3. I am so hoping that the rain will go away and things can dry out around your town. Those pictures were amazing. (I would have been afraid to get out in it I think, for fear of floating away!)

Glad you were feeling well enough to get out though.

I thank you for your comments on my poem today. I don't actually talk like that unless I am talking to the Lord or writing a poem!

The top two pictures were taken by a cousin who recently went to Alaska. She let me copy them to use when I write poetry. And the bottom picture of the roses I took when we were in North Carolina last year. I absolutely love looking at the beauty of nature and thinking about God.

I hope your days ahead will be brighter!

  4. We've had flooding in our town frequently and so I understand the problems it causes. Hopefully the water will recede soon.

And glad you got to go to church- even if it was just for some books!

  5. I guess we did send the rain to you!! Since LR is so hilly, you don't see a lot of puddles and it runs right into the AR river. But you see a lot of gushing water!!

I am sooooo happy to see sun today!!!
