Real exciting Title, I know. I'm too tired to come up with something luring and exciting. It's after midnight, but my mind is so busy I couldn't possibly go to sleep right now. But, did I tell you I was tired?

We left for Nashville about 9:45AM. Got home about 12 hours later. Long day. Praise God that the weather they were forecasting NEVER HAPPENED! Totally uneventful in that way and with the 2 hr. drive we sure appreciated that.

My numbers were way down - except for my weight, which was up. Would be great to go to the drs. and find my weight down and my other numbers up...anyway, I digress.

Don't know how much you will understand this, but the CFers who follow will. Last visit in Aug. my FEV1 was 45% and 1.20 liters. Today it was 31% and .83 liters. HUGE DROP. But I've been noticing it for months. My O2sats were down even on the O2 and my heart rate was way up. Don't know why. Walked a very short bit and it was 133 & O2went to 87, so we quit.

Getting my PICC in was an experience. There was a lot of resistance, which they think is due to scar tissue build-up. So they shoved and shoved the thing and it hurt and felt awful the whole time. I was laying on the gurney feeling like I was going to throw up or pass out...she called for help with the PICC. When someone is inserting something from your arm to your heart, you just don't feel reassured when they yell to another room for help, you know?

It's my 3rd PICC and they said maybe they should do a Port next time. But I had a Port before and I would probably have lots of scarring from that, too. So they'll try left side next time.

They are doing 2 abx, one is new. Since I've had so many problems with abx they started a drip there and watched for reactions.

Nurse: any itching?

Me: I was itching already from the Prednisone

Nurse: How about flushing?

Me: I have hot flashes all of the time, how would I know?

Hmmm. We don't THINK there is a problem. I have a minimum of 3 wks on abx and then they repeat tests.

This is long, and you have no pictures to look at. Are any of you still reading? Sorry if this is boring. Just need to recount my long day. 5 hours later we left, which put it in rush hour, hardly moving traffic in Nashville. Got home around 9:40 tonight and found that something happened to my computer while I was gone. When my son was on it, but I'm not making any accusations. But it took me an hour to fix things and finally get on here.

I miss reading all of your blogs, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. OH, I prayed for a lot of you today while I was gone!!! I keep wondering how Alan's appts. went. Did you all read about Alan and Jen and pray for them today? Maybe tomorrow she'll be able to let us know how it went.

Thank you all for your sweet comments and your prayers. They mean very much. Especially tonight when I'm tired and wimpy because my arm and shoulder are hurting so much!

  1. I know you are happy to be home, but you must be exhausted!!! Praying for a peaceful, restful day for you today.

Jen and Alan had a good (albeit looonnnng) day yesterday. They got some good info from all the doctors, and were able to have the bladder study done. I'm sure she will update the caring bridge site soon (www.caringbridge.org/visit/alanhenley). We had fun with Skylar, and they managed to get home around 5 (after a quick drive thru trip to McDonalds for some french fries at Alan's request).

Thanks so much for your prayers for them...when I told Jen about the post on the prayer blog, she was so grateful. You are such a thoughtful person. Thanks so much for caring for us all!!

    Take care today!

  3. I really hope those IV's help your infection and get your PFT's back where they belong!! I am praying for that Debbi!

Have you ever had a port that feeds into the jugular? That is the way to go! I kept having problems with clotting and other stuff when they put a port in that went to the sub-clavian (like piccs do), but when they put one in to feed to the jugular, all of my problems went away.. just a suggestion.

Hang in there and I hope to be reading about you "feeling great" in a week or so!!

  4. I am so sorry that yesterday was such a bad day....my heart goes out to you! I don't know much about your levels, but I do know the pain of having a PICC line put in.....you poor thing!

I hope that you can relax and take it easy today....thinking of you!

  5. Put some heat on that arm. Take it easy for the next 3 weeks or more-- Make yourself and your health a priority.

    ((Hugs)) to you!

Sorry the PICC insertion was so miserable. I have a feeling I will need a port the next time I need IV meds... my arm veins are thrashed.

  6. Just wanted to update you quickly. Please, please continue to pray for Alan. Jen had to call 911 last night because she dropped him (thankfully, they are awesome and told her to call them to come help anytime). Today she is going to try to get him out to the airport to have lunch with some of his pilot buddies. He is really down lately, and this should be a good pick me up!! Thanks Debbi! Have a great day....and rest!!
